UTopia: State of Abstraction

UTopia: State of Abstraction is the sixth volume in Utah Valley University’s Department of Art & Design fine art book series. The title carries a double meaning: the universal questions the work takes up, and the geography it holds itself to. Each contribution to the book was made in Utah. Within that constraint, the book gathers work that abstracts the familiar landscape of home.

Among the featured works is a photograph from my series Of The Lakefront, photographed on the bank of Utah Lake, where the familiar landscape dissolves into abstraction, as commentary on my state of being at the time.
